We specialize in restoring clawfoot tubs and enjoy working on them. Because of the long life and use of these heavy duty tubs, every clawfoot usually has a great deal of “character.” There are often many man-inflicted bruises, especially on the outsides of the tub. Rust and several layers of paint is often present as well. Therefore, we will attempt in many instances to resurface the outside as much as we possibly can. But, it is important that our customers understand that clawfoot tubs were originally manufactured with many minor defects, especially on the outside of the tub, therefore it is impossible to have a perfect-smooth finish. The resale value of claw foot tubs have increased in value through the years and most prospective buyers do understand that as with any novelty item, flaws do exist. In addition, as family heirlooms or sentimental objects, scratches and bruises on claw foots can read to many as history and be appreciated. Having an expectation of a few flaws is always best, however we will try our best to smooth, and fill chips, scratches and defects to the best of our ability.
